Upcoming 2: XBLA Edition

Yo, I’m in Washington right now for PAX (first time)! The show starts tomorrow, but today I got to attend a Microsoft event where some indies were in attendence. Slick Entertainment was one of the teams present, and they were showing off Scrap Metal, a “cars with guns” racing game that’s coming out to XBLA next year. As a fan of Rock n’ Roll Racing, RC Pro AM, Off Road, etc., I’m very excited about this one. The handling and physics felt great, and the action was raucous.
The inimitable and cheeky Introversion guys were also present and had Darwinia+ available to play. This game includes both the IGF award-winning Darwinia as well as Multiwinia (shown in the video above). I enjoyed Darwinia a lot but hadn’t ever played Multiwinia, mostly due to my aversion to multiplayer-only games (this might change now that I’ve tried Left 4 Dead 2). But hell, Multiwinia is great fun in singleplayer mode against the computer, too. I’ll be looking forward to grabbing D+ for the full experience.
And finally… Fez wasn’t on hand at the event, but it is coming out for Live Arcade in 2010 and there is some new footage of it in this episode of G4’s Electric Playground (around the 6:00 mark).

Multiwinia is such a great game on PC. It’s a shame it did not receive much exposure. As much fun as it is playing the computer it’s much more fun playing people online, and that’s harder to come by any more.
Fez PC PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ!
Wow, you have never played Multiwinia?
IMO, that’s probably the best “lite” RTS game I’ve ever played.
Fez looks more fun after every video
damn I didn’t know the multiwinia devs were so young and fresh, no wonder they developed the games in their bedrooms.
Scrap Metal reminds me of Death Rally, which is the best damn top-down racer with weapons ever. Conclusion: looking forward to it. (The music in this video isn’t nearly as good as the Death Rally music, though.)

It also reminds me of Atari’s Badlands, which is another fun combat racing game.
Fez is really looking polished these days. I can’t wait to play it.
sweet polytron is in montreal! i gotta visit u guys sometime since im an aspiring indie game dev in the montreal area. im only 14 but id love a chance to talk to other people who share my passion, since basically they dont really exist in my area (besides my bro lol). hit me up anytime at the scirra forums. (for construct, since i cant really program in real languages yet) im a known and pretty influential member at the site. look out for some of my releases (im working on a game at about 70% completion). so yea lol.
Nice to see some Canadian devs on a Canadian show. (Though everyone but Vic happens to be a bit on the slow side.) Really excited for Fez, can’t wait.
I love that every guy on the fez team has a varient of “Thick Weezer Glasses” =)
video game journalism on TV bugs the SHIT outta me. I watched that Fex segment and then turned it off. It was all I could take.
yeah… I would say that it has to do with the energy they put into it.. in your face totally extreme video game show!
I like bytejacker, but this show is too extreme for me
Mooooom, the frontpage is repeating itself, again
