Cortex Command Build 22

Happy day! A new build of Cortex Command is out! This version features a ton of new additions, not the least of which is a completely new campaign mission that has you infiltrating a cave full of zombies to retrieve a data disk. Arne’s custom background graphics for this level are a-mazing.
Other additions include a 2x scaled-up windowed mode, a ton new actors and weapons, and improved AI. The movement and HUD seem to be a lot smoother to me, as well, although I think I missed a couple of builds in-between. Overall, though, it just feels a lot more polished.
But yeah, God, everything about this game – the style, the complexity – captures a lot of what made PC gaming fun for me back in the day. It’s great to see all the pieces really start to come together. Go grab it!

I knew once he got LUA implemented, Data would start to churn out some builds. Time to see some Zombombies in action.
0_0 Holy… Holy mother of… THIS IS AWESOEM. This is pure liquid awesome distilled from the piss of Mister T and Chuck Norris combined. It is so awesome that I can’t adequately describe it.
With that said, I’m grabbing my Boomstick. I’ll see the rest of you in a few days.
This is so cool. I’ve played it, I’ve loved it, and I’v-
Let’s leave it at loved it k?
Ah, wonderful. I think I’ll purchase it this time ‘round. Goodness knows why I didn’t before.
Also, Arne has another site? This post is a double-dose of greatness, if simply for his thoughts (and arts!) on Star Control alone.
Too bad the zombies don’t actually eat your unit’s brains, and your brain as well.
Chuck Norris? So I guess this is bad then?
…you know, uh. I kinda don’t get the game and its controls.
It’s like Clonk to me - awesome concept, how the feck do I play it though?
Go Clonk yourself, Trotim. We don’t need Clonking Clonkers like you Clonking up the place with your Clonkulous Clonkenations.
Also, Cortex Command. I wish I wasn’t right awful at games like this or I might’ve considered gettin’ ma’ mitts on it.
They may seem clunky at first, but if you can get past it the game is realy fun, especialy with a gamepad.
Trotim: Tried the tutorial?
@Data: Of course, meh, wording is off. I meant the overly complicated physics - sometimes I spend half a minute just on getting over some block because the jetpack is just that iffy.
I’ve played this for a bit and really liked it. Seemingly there has indeed been quite some polishing. I especially like the much smoother aiming when using a gamepad :) Though it probably shouldn’t crash when I use the pad before the round “officially” starts, I guess. Oh and the Ronin faction! A revolver? A Luger pistol? An old rifle? Shiny, just the style I like :)
I will definitely buy Cortex Command, but not right now. Even though that might be illogical, considering the price will only increase, I’ll just already buy enough other games these months. On the other hand, though, Data & Co(?) will only profit from that behaviour, so what :)
This is the build that pushed me over the edge from “cute tech demo” to “possibility of being kick ass game”
Buying right now.

Did they ever fix the slow, unresponsive controls?
If you’re referring to a few builds ago speed, then no? Although I really love how the game controls as it is - though I full well understand the Clonk metaphor, this avoids those problems. In, uh, my eyes.
Also, beat the Zombie Cave in the 6 minute demo time! Huzzah.
I couldn’t at first, since it took me more than 3 minutes to figure out how to launch the chip the first time around…
The game looks awesome, the features, graphics and over all style of the game looks great. Ill have to give this game a try.
Noice. Lotsa fun. I just plonked down my dollars and registered it. It’s already worth the money, to me. ;)
