Artsy Game Incubator

Art Incubator

I really like this idea:

The Artsy Games Incubator exists to help people in Toronto that have a drive to make games, artistic talents to bring to the table, but no programming experience.
We will be making game elements and games using the emerging array of point-and-click tools that require no coding, just a Photoshop level of computer familiarity.
Based somewhat on a writer’s-circle model, we will be meeting weekly for a four week period to share our progress and give feedback to each other.
We are all about making games now!

As much as I like talking about games, the real joy comes from making them. I wish there was one of these in every city!

    Canada? Booyah.

    Same here, I’m a Torontonian. =3 But I’ve honestly never heard of this project before…

    The hard part about these is that unless everyone in the group has a laptop (or at least one of them has one and was sent everyone’s games by email) it’s hard to show each other the previous week’s work at a meeting. With writer’s groups it’s easier since all you need is a print-out of what you wrote. But yeah, if any indie developer lives near NYC we should start one.

    I mean no offense by what I say here, but I have very little respect for development packages that “require no coding.” I have very little respect for the people that make them. I have very little respect for the people that use them.

    It’s not that I have some high-and-mighty opinion of myself, it’s just every time I use one of these packages I find I’m spending more time trying to overcome the limitations of the package than I am making what I want.

    If I wanted a system that reqired no coding I’d pull out some card stock and carboard and make a board game.

    @guesst:
    “every time i use one of these packages” makes me wonder if you realised what you wrote in the sentences just before that ;D

    I was in a room once where they were being used, but I did not inhale.
