Hoshi Saga 2

In Hoshi Saga 2, you are presented with a series of mini-games and the object of each is to find a hidden star. How the star is hidden and how you find it varies with each game. It’s kind of Wario Ware-ish in that the fun comes from figuring out what you’re supposed to be doing (minus the time pressure).

The levels are presented in a grid, and at the end of each row and column is a hidden mini-game that can only be accessed once every other game in the row/column is beaten. Beating all the hidden games unlocks the credits.

The games are all very clever, and beautifully presented. Quite lovely!

And be sure to try Hoshi Saga 1, too.

    This is pretty cool :)

There are two that I can’t work out, though, and they’re keeping me from continuing to the end… A5 (40) and F6 (65) – they’re a total mystery to me :(

    B6 (47) is my favourite!

  • Derek

    Hints:

A5 (40) – This was the hardest for me. I’ll just say that it requires no clicking.

E6 (65) – Try something different with this one.

Ah, got the F6 (65) one, cheers :)

I may need another hint with A5 though, heh.

  • Jimbob

Imagine you are a dirty old Japanese man…

  • Bobjim

Blarg, can someone just tell me how to do 40?

  • teasel

    can’t do 61

  • http://www.distractionware.com Terry

61 I can do! Drag down the thing in the top left hand corner over each piece, and rotate each into the “appropriate” position. They’ll all fall on top of each other once you’ve got it.

    Seriously, 40, anyone… I feel like I’m missing something really obvious…

  • Gamwich

40 is a bit hard to figure out…it requires to be really fast with your mouse.

  • http://www.distractionware.com Terry

Well, I don’t appear to be able to interact with it whatsoever. I officially give up :(

  • Blueberry_pie

Quickly (very quickly – might take a few tries) move the mouse upwards over each of the skirts… One of them should, uh, contain the star.

  • http://www.distractionware.com Terry

Ah feck – finally got 40. I was expecting something clever – that’s just badly designed :(

To finish it: Put the cursor in the bottom black bit *inside the flash box*, and quickly move your cursor to the top black bit, again, *inside the flash box*. If you go outside the window it doesn’t work, hence my frustration :(

  • contra

Useally I’m really anti-flash but I really like these games. Casual gaming at its best. Also one of the few I’ve gotten my girlfriend to play and enjoy.

  • Radnom

Gah, is there a star in the credits? the level select screen looks like there should be one. I can’t seem to do anything though.

  • John

I don’t think there is, but who knows. I beat it though, was a great time killer between classes

  • Advenith

I’m playing the first one, but I’m stuck on the one that looks like the sun on the horizon…

  • Parasiet

Ah finished 1 and 2 now, was good fun, and Advenith if you mean D3 (stage 21), take a look at the small picture in the stage select screen ;)

  • moi

    What about E2 hmm?

  • Stwelin

done with em all! took me forever to do the “twinkle twinkle little star” one, but i hate to leave it undone. :0)

  • Lackey

What do you have to do in the twinkle twinkle one? I seem to have completed the melody but notes stop appearing and nothing seems to happen.

  • moi

You have to play the whole melody by following the notes that appeared on the partition, I found this one easy.

So now, what am I supposed to do in E2?

  • Blueberry_pie

E2 is stage 61, right? You need to rotate the pieces so that they form a star when they’re on top of each other. There’s a small box in the top left corner that you can drag to reveal a guide.

  • moi

I can manage to have only two to overlap, maybe I’m dumb?

  • moi

    AH got it now!
