If Sumotori Dreams is a drunken sumo wrestling simulation, then NekoFight is a capoeira simulation going through meth withdrawal. It is not a pretty sight, oh no.

Arrow keys move. Press X and C to kick and Z to “grab,” although I’ve never managed to grab anything in this game! Hell, it’s tough just to enjoy any physical contact with my opponent before I flip myself off the screen!

    This game feels kind of pointless. The controls are really wonky. I wouldn’t mind the lack of any confirmation of winning or losing or ANYTHING if the game actually was fun.

    I posted earlier, but it appears to have not shown up on the screen.

    I basically compared this game to drunken breakdance fighting, and said that it’s actually quite easy to grab someone…

    just hold down the “Z” key, until your arm comes within reach of one of the opponent’s body parts… when they’re within reach, your arm will kinda magnetize itself to the body part, and grab on until you release Z.

    If you’re holding the enemy with Z, and pull off a clever kicking maneuver to kinda pull him through the air, then you can release Z at the last second to throw him.

    Oh, and as for the menus, the first one seems to enable and disable the AI, not sure exactly what the second option is for, and the third one turns gravity on and off…

    I think the menu that pops up when you click the fourth option has something to do with the intelligence of the AI or something.. I may be wrong.

    Every time I start playing this game, I find myself about an hour later thinking I’ll stop after just one more round. And I keep going back to it.

    I wish this game had two-player controls. Not that I currently have anyone to play with, but I imagine this would be really fun if I could play someone who could really fight back.

    I actually like the fact that this doesn’t have any kind of scoring or “You Win!” things. Not having them made me realize that in Sumotori (which really seems to be the best game to compare this to) they actually got in the way of the amusing antics. If I wanted to keep track of score, I could do it myself, but I usually don’t.

    I found a list of controls, kinda. R seems to restart. Then ctrl+??? does something else apparently, I just can’t figure out the other key.

    I think it’s ctrl+o. That opens up something to do with changing the AI’s level. I leave it alone though, anything but the standard 500 seems to make the AI rather stupid and prone to suicide.

    I also would have loved a two player mode. It’s seemingly random at first, but unlike in Sumotori Dreams you can really bend the odds to your favor. I really enjoy the reliance on intuition to properly setup your attacks.

    There’s nothing like reliably drop kicking the computer, or breaking out of a hold.

    Actually, I just noticed that you can turn off the AI, and then control the ragdolls with the mouse. It’s an ok fix if you can get the mouse user to not sabotage the blue guy :p
