Enter the Story: Les Miserables: The Game of the Book by Chris Tolworthy is an adventure game adaption of the book by the same name. It’s quite different from the book though: you play Peri’s ghost and have to “suggest” things to people still living by clicking on them and then on something else. Through solely this mechanic of suggestion from the afterlife, you solve puzzles and progress through the game.

The game has very nice silhoutte-style graphics, which remind me of the art in Chris Crawford’s old game Balance of the Planet, but that’s the only comparable style I can think of; it’s pretty unique.

One bit of trivia that I love is that this game was made by a Georgist, and all profits from the game go into researching a way to end global poverty. This is also the first in a series of games: the next is, coincidentally, The Divine Comedy.

It’s $14.99, and the demo seems to only have the sewers, which is a shame because it’s confusing to navigate and because doesn’t get to the really good parts of the game.

Very nice use of filters, although it does fall apart a bit when they try to put in some new items (screen16).

I’m not trying to dig dirt on this guy, but I think this is a really dishonest way to make people buy your game.

perhaps, but his ideas about selling the game are interesting at least, like if you buy one game any previous installments (if they exist ;D ) are free.

I think there’s a difference between

“The money is used to help end world poverty. Yes, seriously”

and the following sentence:

“I am using this money to fund my research into land rent as the basis for economic justice … I created this game as a way to fund my studies.”

Not to be a pessimist, what do I know, maybe, just maybe this guy, who happens to be a former Mormon and wrote an essay(?) in 2001 claiming the Moon was man-made, is now on the verge of revolutionizing the world with his brave ideas about poverty, but I think it makes a bad sales argument.

I’m not trying to dig dirt on this guy, but I think this is a really dishonest way to make people buy your game.

Armjoe is such a waste of pixel art

I mean the concept is awesome, the incomplete voice work is nevertheless hilarious (as french Canadians me and my friends understand how ridiculous POIGNARD SMASH sounds)

But the game is the most imbalanced fighting game I have ever played.

Actually, in a way it’s balanced, because pretty much everyone can almost instantly kill almost everyone.

But Ponpon’s the man. Or uh, alternate dimension rabbit.

the demo is still quite fun, it’s just in comparison to the rest of the game that it feels out of place; it’s also not where you actually begin the game in the full game (or at least the version i tested), and it skips the wonderful intro of who you are and what you’re doing

Woah, the graphics look really well done for this game. Too bad I can’t buy it, and I don’t want to download the demo because Paul said it only has the sewer part in it and not the good parts.
