Dear cactus has released another shoot ‘em up. Ad Nauseum 2 (direct download) features seizurific special effects, some slightly obscene artwork, and a soundtrack that I’m pretty sure is meant to induce bowel movements. It’s also very easy to die. You have been duly warned.

For those new to cactus, you may want to try out Cactus Arcade (direct download), a collection of 17 of his games, including a handy interface for playing them.

(Thanks a lot for the tip, Bas! And to the various peeps that brought Cactus Arcade to my attention.)

well it’s a bit laggy on my laptop so was rather boring, also having the same enemies on the screen for an entire level is kinda boring in a shooter.
I really liked the effects and the graphics are, as always in newer cactus productions, simply but catchy

I don’t like shmups very often, also not cactus’s ones, but this one is very addicting. However I keep getting killed by the vermicelli bullets.

I actually liked the slow down when playing on my own pc, but the fast paced-ness, when playing on a better pc, was also a plus.

I love the way the enemies work especially.

Cor that is one tough little cookie. I can get as far as the white background area but I get destroyed pretty swiftly after that. For some reason the upgrade system reminds me of the game AgentX II for the C64

On easy I can last for a while on the white ASCII stage,. but alas have not been able to sustain long enouph to clear that,. the maxed out ver. of the ship with the auto guided missles is quite nice and powerfull but the letters keep killing me in the end,. I will be up all night till i beat this danm thing or my mind gives out,.
