Mount and Blade, the incredibly realistic and detailed medieval combat game, saw a whopper of a new update last week. The last public version, which I believe was 0.808, was released almost a year ago!

Some of the more notable changes in this version include ragdoll physics for soldiers and horses, a graphics overhaul, and generally just a mind-boggling number of improvements and additions to every aspect of the game, from commanding troops to the faction system. Strangely enough, Taleworlds does not publicize the changes from version to version, so fans of the game are compiling a list, the most current of which can be viewed here.

If you’ve been waiting for a good time to try out this game, which was one of our 50 Really Good Indie Games, now is it!

I’ve been disappointed with the development progress on mount and blade to be honest. It’s a great game, and has been for a while, but all the updates for the last year or two have been cosmetic. Graphics mostly, and a few extra items etc.

It’s got a lot of potential, a bit more interaction with the factions, maybe some better implemented game modes?
The castle assault update was a complete joke, they just added a new map but didn’t adjust the AI to handle it.

Add to that the whole lack of rss or mailing list to stay informed of updates, they’re really letting themselves down on what is a pretty good game with a really fun mechanic

Wow, I thought they had died or something. And they were saying it was going to be done in a few more months at one point..
Awesome game, though, so it’s worth the wait for the updates!

Good god! It’s about time. I check every week to see if there’s an update. I love this game.

Funny… Their front page and built in “Check for updates” doesn’t even show this version…
