	&lt;p&gt;The random Gnome&amp;#8217;s random lair has posted some very random news about &lt;a href="http://gnomeslair.blogspot.com/2007/07/guide-to-world-of-indy-adventure-game.html"&gt;random independent adventure gaming&lt;/a&gt;.  Random!&lt;/p&gt;


&lt;div style="margin: 10px 0 10px 0; padding: 0 0 0 5px; border-left: 1px solid #F26522; color: #bbbbbb"&gt;They can be wildly innovative, copyright infringing, in full pixelated 2D, remakes of classic games, political, silly, absolutely shite, pop, over 500MB, excellent, boring, free or very cheap; anything at all. And, unlike commercial games, especially the ridiculously expensive ones which we&amp;#8217;ve been living with for quite some time, they just can&amp;#8217;t be proclaimed dead. As long as people &lt;del&gt;ordinary people&lt;/del&gt; care for them, they&amp;#8217;ll be around.&lt;/div&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;It&amp;#8217;s true.  Nothing ever dies in independent gaming.  I&amp;#8217;m pretty sure there&amp;#8217;s some guy out there who&amp;#8217;s a fan of &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sewer_Shark"&gt;Sewer Shark&lt;/a&gt; who&amp;#8217;s working on a fantastic new &lt;span class="caps"&gt;FMV&lt;/span&gt; game in his spare time.&lt;/p&gt;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;I don&amp;#8217;t necessarily believe that it killed the genre. What I meant by adventure games having good gameplay elements is the fact that in adventure games (if your like me) you get a great variety of story, exploration, mystery and puzzles to solve that are all very story and gameplay driven (rather than a lot of AAA titles which are graphics and novelty driven). I love the fact that a game doesn&amp;#8217;t have to be all about killing and destruction but can be about characters and the degree of a player&amp;#8217;s immersion into a story, and that I believe can only be accomplished if the game has significant gameplay value.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;There are some some fake-FMV indie adventures out there. They&amp;#8217;re really just using photos for the animations and backgrounds, but they manage to capture the FMV look. At least in the screenshots! =)
Soviet Unterz&#246;gersdorf comes to mind. If you haven&amp;#8217;t written about it on TIGS, you really should, since it&amp;#8217;s absolutely adorable.
