La Mulana Website

La Mulana

The Wii port of NIGORO’s La Mulana has a full site now, with information about the game and a blog (available in English or Japanese). The blog updated by the La Mulana staff, who say “Don’t think of this site as simple a general site for information to be released little-by-little. Think of it as a way to exchange ideas between the developers and fans. This official site is here with a purpose.”

Project Q: First Look

Posted by Derek Yu Sat, 01 Aug 2009 00:05:00 GMT

IGN’s embedded video player sucks. View it here.

Cave Story, Night Game, La Mulana… and now Q! Here’s a teaser video of a prototype platformer by Nicklas “Nifflas” Nygren and the Nicalis crew. IGN has an interview with Nicklas and Tyrone about the project (which is not yet confirmed for any one platform).

Fans who might be worried that all these new games are causing delays should take comfort in the fact that Nicklas has “wrapped up most of his work for Night Game.”

La Mulana coming to WiiWare?

Posted by Xander Thu, 23 Jul 2009 10:40:00 GMT

LaMulanaMaybe

Apparently this month’s Nintendo Power has a preview of La Mulana amongst its WiiWare pages. On top of this a new section on the Nigoro site appeared showing this countdown clock. I do so hate countdown clocks. However I’m sure a WiiWare port with some less alienating graphics wouldn’t be a bad idea, and this is only the start of the waiting the prospective purchasers will have to endure so we may as well start now.

Of course, you’ve already played the original game anyway. Right?

(This is in no way myself avoiding getting round to reviewing ‘Splosion Man. Not at all. Also, source: Diverse’s Blog)

Oh, Curly~!

Curly Brace

An article in The Escapist reveals that the Cave Story Wii team is aiming for an April release of the game. Nicalis is interested in adding DLC to the game in the months following the release, possibly including a Boss Rush Mode and other fan-requested modes.

“It’s really exciting, and I do my best to keep it all in. But I’m a little bit anxious with all the expectation behind the game,” [Pixel] admits. “I’m really grateful to be able to bring it to a console. And I’m really happy that Tyrone found the game when he did and decided to put the effort to make it come to WiiWare.”

But this post was mostly an excuse to post the epic Cave Story Anthem video that Annabelle Kennedy made, as well as the Curly Brace fan art by Niklas “Arne” Jansson.

Nicalis Update

Cave Story Wii

Nicalis has updated their website. I like this new screenshot, posted on the blog, which shows off a lot of the new high-resolution sprites, including a close-up portrait of Toroko (the image above is cropped and blown up). It looks very cohesive.

Cave Story Wii Interview and Trailer

Posted by Derek Yu Tue, 14 Oct 2008 14:27:00 GMT

Here’s an interview with Tyrone Rodriguez, the producer of Cave Story Wii, where he discusses the game and their partnership with Pixel. Big reveal: Nicalis is aiming for a holiday 2008 release, and a 500-1000 point (EDIT: $5-$10) price tag. More videos on the blog.

Um, for those of you who haven’t played the game, the interview is slightly spoilerish. Yes, I’m talking about you, Dan and Maria Branowsky of New Jersey. You’re the last ones. Get to it, already!
