People who pre-ordered the PC version of World of Goo will receive a download link tonight, at midnight (along with a hearty thank you!). The final deadline for pre-orders is 11:59pm PST, so there’s still time. For everyone else, the game will be released simultaneously on WiiWare and PC a week later, on Monday, October 13th. OSX and Linux versions are forthcoming.
Buddhist monks may one day ask their disciples, “What sound does a Soundless Mountain make?” To which the disciples should rightly answer, “It is the sound of a compo being won, master.” Superflat’s atmospheric horror game, Soundless Mountain II, took the top prize in the TIGSource Bootleg Demakes Competition, with Gang Garrison II and Aquarium at a close second and third, respectively.
So, er, you guys like Cave Story, right? (Kidding, kidding—of course you do!) Well, Nintendo recently announced, in a very official-looking press release, that it’s coming to WiiWare “this holiday season.” And for real this time! Not only that, but with “exclusive content and features created only for the WiiWare version.” Yay, go Pixel!
Tim linked to a presumably accurate fact sheet for the Wii version: 16:9 widescreen, progressive scan. New character designs by Daisuke Amaya (Pixel). Classic controller support. Ten unique weapons, over twenty boss battles. (Wait, Indie Cred be damned, how many were in the original?) Developed by Nicalis.
Some questions: Will the Wii version use the much-loved Aeon Genesis translation? What does Pixel get out of this? Is this actually happening? Do I wake up now? (Shih Tzu, do you have any more information?)
Huzzah!
UPDATE: Word is AG’s translation is being used. (Thanks Zaratus!)
Also, IGN UK has posted some off-screen videos of the game in motion. Is that a new Quote sprite I see? (Thanks reetva!)
You’ve seen those 100 games in 10 minutes videos, right? There are NES versions, SNES versions, C64 versions, and loads more I’m sure.
Over the last couple of weeks Paul Eres has put together a brilliant Game Maker equivalent! A list of all 100 games is available on the GMC thread.

A man ironically named “Jason Love” wrote an article titled “Fuck Metroidvanias” for Insomnia. But by his definition Cave Story is not a Metroidvania, so whew, amirite?
Ohhhhhhyeeeaaahhh, there’s an extensive Bonesaw post-mortem on Ivan “toastie” Safrin’s great new indie game development blog, *Play-Make, as well as an interview with Alec Holowka about Aquaria.
Finally, Lost Garden’s Danc has tagged all of his multitudinous essays, and compiled those tags into a simple directory for easy browsing.
UPDATE: Thanks, Tim, for pointing out that I missed Destructoid’s interview with Jasper “superflat” Byrne, who developed Soundless Mountain II for our Demakes Compo!
