Valo

Valo

The premise behind Valo is quite simple: click and drag your mouse over the blue squares and avoid the red ones. It’s quite relaxing to play, and I enjoy the random blips that emanate from the game. Drawing lines with the mouse is fun, also, but sadly the game begins to drag on as the difficulty is so low.

Ride Me!

Posted by Tim Fri, 19 Jan 2007 20:14:00 GMT

riderv2

You can download Rider here.

Quoting dess:

it’s a motorcycle sim where you try to get your package to its destination on time without breaking any traffic laws (when cops are watching). reminds me of tokyo bus guide, but better since it involves motorcycles (and you don’t have to observe crazy bus codes). it’s a pretty nice chillout game. videogame sunsets!

There are some crazy rides to unlock if you play long enough.

EDIT: Options on the main menu, from left to right, are: records (for this playthrough), options, play and quit.

Flash Element TD

Posted by Derek Yu Tue, 16 Jan 2007 05:31:00 GMT

Flash Element TD

Flash Element TD is one of those flash games that’s built around the idea that upgrading is a lot of fun. Drop towers and upgrade them to fend off hordes of creatures for as long as you can.

It’s actually more difficult than it looks.

Hint: press Space to toggle enemy health bars on and off.

Colocoro

ColoCoro Screenie
Well, it was only a matter of time before someone made a game for the PC that’s compatible with the hacked Wii-Mote. Colocoro is such a game, and like lots of Wii games; it’s very simplistic, and quite a bit of fun.

The goal of each level is to deliver your ball to the blue exit. It all sounds fairly simple and easy, until you realize that you need to bump, rotate, and move the playfield. Warps and enemies also try to ruin your day.

I haven’t gotten a change to play with a Wii-Mote sadly, but from what I’ve been seeing, it works flawlessly and adds a lot of fun. At less than a 1 meg download, there’s really no reason not to give this fun little game a try, even if you don’t plan on hacking your Wii-Mote. (There’s mouse control too).

Irritating Games

Posted by Tim Tue, 28 Nov 2006 19:40:00 GMT

irritate

If distracting games aren’t enough to make you mad, here’s a collection of twenty-seven games that are guaranteed to irritate you.

The Marble Madness clones are quite good, and game for secretary is aptly named. Some really decent stuff to be found on that page.

Distraction Game

Posted by Derek Yu Tue, 28 Nov 2006 17:48:00 GMT

Distraction

This is a game where you… wait a second, I’m getting a phone call. Sorry, what was I saying? Oh yeah, this is a flash game where you try and (hmmm, I should probably do my laundry soon) collect fruit while… hold on, I have to take a dump. Hold that thought, I’ll be right back, okay?

(Never returns.)

EDIT: Haha, I actually got so distracted trying to write my lame post that I forgot to add a link to the damn game.

WiiCade

Posted by Albert Lai Fri, 24 Nov 2006 17:09:00 GMT

Wiicade is a relatively new arrival, boasting games that supposedly mesh well with the recently WiiCadeHeaderreleased Nintendo Wii.

You see the clinical analysis in that previous sentence? I make myself shiver sometimes.

What is Wiicade? A site to host Flash games designed for the Wii apparently. Not owning a Wii (I’ve been persuaded by a friend to wait until the rush is over, damn him) I can’t say whether the games are fun or not on the console, but on the computer most are fairly lack-luster. Ellipsis was fairly fun, and I expect Scribble, a fast-paced connect-the-dots game, may have more appeal on a TV with the Wii controller than on a computer with a mouse.

Really, I probably shouldn’t be passing any judgments at all since I can’t say whether this is worth playing or not. Go go TIGSource swarm, we’re counting on you.

The Wedding Game

Posted by Derek Yu Wed, 15 Nov 2006 19:04:00 GMT

A surprise game made for two people on their wedding. This is cute, well-made, and so very indie. Seriously, respect!

Info from one of the creators right here.

A HUNDRED POINTS

Posted by BMcC Thu, 09 Nov 2006 18:57:00 GMT

One of my lower scoring games.

As most of you surely know, I am the reigning Frog Hunt World Champion.

For the sake of those poor, unenlightened souls who haven’t experienced the raw power that is Frog Hunt, here’s a quick overview. But first a caveat! This game… will change you.

Frog Hunt is an experimental game by Johan Peitz, founder of Free Lunch Design, and true friend of indie gamers everywhere. As I recall, the game was based on a classroom discussion he led concerning creativity that produced a number of arbitrary (and terrible) videogame concepts. He then took the best (the worst) of these concepts and made them into a game. A delightfully broken game.

I play three to four hours each day, as part of my rigid World Champion training, and I’ve still yet to uncover its mysteries.

Lugaru 2

Posted by Lorne Whiting Tue, 07 Nov 2006 17:43:00 GMT

Name’s Lorne, I’m a new editor. Fear my wrath! Of hell! Well, not hell… Just wrath.

StartingFur2

Pardon me if this was posted about before (Or I screwed up the categories, since I don’t get that AT ALL). My favorite indie game EVER is getting a sequel. That would be Lugaru... 2. 2 is the sequel, I’m not talking Lugaru 3, here. That would be, well, totally awesome, but no.

If you haven’t played the first, click the link above and download the demo, this moment (Or read the description first).
