Owlboy

How could I not post about a game that’s called Owlboy? Especially when it’s by the Project Rhapsody team (now called D-pad Studio). Described by the game’s artist, Snake, as “a free-roaming flying game with dungeons,” Owlboy is heading to this year’s IGF as a PC and Xbox 360 Community Games title. That’s the plan, at least!

Holy hell this game looks good. Like, finger-lickin’ good.

Everyday Shooter

Everyday Shooter, Jonathan Mak’s acclaimed musical shoot ‘em up, is heading to PSP, according to a Sony press release announcing the new PSP-3000. Players can buy an “Entertainment Pack” which includes the new PSP, along with a 4GB Memory Stick and a voucher to download the PSP version of Everyday Shooter from the Playstation Store. The entire bundle is $200.

No word on how much the game will cost alone, or what Jon’s involvement with the port is.

(Thanks, architekt!)

Tormishire Trailer

Posted by Shabadage Mon, 18 Aug 2008 13:10:00 GMT

James is hard at work on his new game Tormishire, a rather nice looking Metroidvania-styled game. For those unfamiliar, James is the creator of the game Satan Sam that made rounds on the internet a few years back.

“How does that tie in?” you may ask.

“Why it’s a spiritual sequel, and it’s not already on TIGS! I also felt that this post was very short!”

Fortunately, for those of you UNFAMILIAR with Satan Sam, you can find it at his site here!! Trailer goodness time!

Blurst

Those kinky Flashbang boys are teasing us about Blurst, which will be the new home for all their game experiments. The site will go live with five titles, including Raptor Safari, Jetpack Brontosaurus, and their latest project, Minotaur China Shop, which stars an angry minotaur who’s trying to run a china shop (okay, that is an awesome idea). Coming soon!

Hit the jump for some test footage of Minotaur China Shop:

The Underside: Johnny Five Aces Trailer

Posted by Derek Yu Thu, 14 Aug 2008 02:41:00 GMT

That crafty Mr. Podunkian, a man who is of, shall we say, a contentious nature, has released a new trailer for his magnum opus, The Underside. This one reveals the game’s strong Earthbound vibe. But there shall be no quarreling today over the particulars of his inspiration for the game – I just want to say that it looks good and I’m really looking forward to playing it! Good work, Arthur!

And as a bonus, here’s some awesome Underside fanart from Annabelle Kennedy.

messhof and cactus would like your brain to dance

I’m making this 3d motorcycle racing game with Cactus. We don’t have a name for it yet, but it’s looking pretty cool. It has a two player mode, split screen as well as online. The music in the trailer is John Marwin. -messhof

Multiwinia Mondays

Posted by Derek Yu Tue, 12 Aug 2008 02:40:00 GMT

Introversion has declared that the next six Mondays will be for Multiwinia, the multiplayer version of their real-time strategy game Darwinia. The first installment went live yesterday, and featured this video, which is pretty cool.

In other news, Rock, Paper, Shotgun’s Jim Rossignol has declared that Tuesdays will be for tuna and all tuna-related comestibles! And as for me? I’m declaring that Wednesdays will hereafter be known as Werewolf Wednesdays. Because that’s when I will be turning into a werewolf and “surfing” on the top of my dad’s van. In Spanish.

“Introversion: The First of the Last of the Days of the Week”

Multiwinia is slated for a simultaneous PC/Mac release in September, and an XBLA release in December.

(Thanks, Hans Frandsen!)

Iji Trailer

Posted by Derek Yu Sun, 10 Aug 2008 17:26:00 GMT

Daniel Remar, who is well-known for Castle of Elite, Hero, and Garden Gnome Carnage, has just released a trailer for Iji, his latest project. Iji is a platformer that’s reminiscent of Out of This World and Flashback. The game is slated for a September 1st release and will be freeware.

Great video! I especially like the part where the Iji “sabotages” her opponent’s gun. Makes me wonder what else she can do with her hacking skills!
