NotKnytt is now known as Knytt Stories, and according to its creator, Nifflas:
“I’m still waiting for material. Some text, and some music, and a very important extension. Once I add it, the game itself is complete. Although it would only require one or two days of work to add the material, I can’t add it before I have it.
However, even if I had that material now, I wouldn’t be able to release the game for a while anyway, since I’m planning to sell expansions. I really want to release the expansions at the same time as the game. I need to learn about all those things – and I must redesign the website.
I will probably not be able to release NotKnytt before sometime at the end of the summer. “
And… a shot from the level editor (thanks, Tim!):

I really couldn’t get into Bernard and Hank 2. I couldn’t care about the characters, I couldn’t get past the slippery, too-fast controls and movement, and I couldn’t figure out why I should be collecting the eggs that are scattered throughout each level.
Actually, the most fun I had with the game was when I encountered a bug that let me swim outside of the water and into the clouds. That was a genuinely entertaining and surrealistic experience.
Speaking of which, has anyone made a game yet where glitches and bugs are purposefully built into the game and where the exploitation of the glitches and bugs are necessary to complete the game? That’d be interesting.

I really enjoyed Knytt, so it was nice to hear that Nifflas is working on another platformer! Even though it’s, er, not a sequel to Knytt, it seems to have a very similar vibe. Which isn’t a bad thing!
Click here for more screenshots of the game in progress.

“TINS (yet another speedhack variant—this one named ‘TINS is not Speedhack’) just finished, and had a pretty solid entry called Ballz. Surprisingly polished for a 72 hour speedhack entry, I think.
It’s a platformer with the trick that you don’t control your direction, only when you jump. As it progresses they add some special abilities to mix it up. Pretty simple, but it’s well done. Oh, and it has immature dialog, and sourcecode available.
The difficulty ramps up kinda absurdly at some point—hopefully eventually they’ll release a version I can actually beat …” – Zaphos

Inyou Douji Monogatari is a single-screen platformer by MIR, who is apparently a very good Ikaruga player as well as a doujin game developer. IDM puts you in controls of a young girl… well, I have no idea what the story is because I don’t speak Japanese. And I barely speak English.
IDM’s gameplay, however, is very solid. You begin by picking your character. It’s not just an aesthetic choice. Light (blue) and dark (green) have the same controls, and moves, but the levels are much more difficult if you choose dark, because the types of enemies you can destroy and the types of gems you want to collect change depending on which character you choose. New mechanics are introduced in cutscenes before the level, making it a breeze to learn how to play. But damn does this game get hard very quickly!
Thanks to Mr. Peckerston on the forums for pointing this game out! Check out two of his world 1 plays in the extended:

I was reminiscing with my friend Jon the other day about games we had played in our formative years, and Brainchild Design came up. I’m sure a lot of you remember them: they made two delicious little freeware games back in the day, Quadnet and Jump n’ Bump (and then promptly jumped the shark). But for those who haven’t (or for those who have forgotten)...

Quadnet is a fast-paced shoot ‘em up that took place on a single grid. The camera angle twisted around depending on where you were on the grid. Robotron-esque control scheme. Really fun, fast-paced little game that we loved competing in.
Jump n’ Bump is a flat-out great hotseat multiplayer game. Using the keyboard, mouse, and/or joystick, the goal of the game is to squash your opponent by jumping on their head. And you play as cute little bunnies, so it’s really, really funny. There’s nothing better than dropping on friends one after another and watching garbage bags full of gibs ‘spode out of their furry little bodies. You can quote me on that!

Both games crash on start-up in XP, but run perfectly using DOSBox.
Update: Good ol’ Mr. Hollow pointed out that JnB is available as a Win32 binary. Thanks!

We’re not posting any new games until someone answers Tomaz’s bat signal lol.

If you can create isometric graphics much like the one pictured above, then do report yourself to this thread. Tomaz (original coder for the Head Over Heels remake) has been looking for someone to take on the task for over a year now and none has replied yet.
Graham (The Arsecast Host) can’t be arsed to do the job, though I’m sure there’s bound to be a pixel artist around here who’s capable enough to replace him.
Game engine and all levels are done. Only graphics are needed.
