Last two, I promise. Carious Weltling can be described as a Sabotage (or Paratrooper) clone with a new skin (literally). Playable through any web browser, the objective in this Flash effort is basically to stay alive by shooting at the miscellaneous predators which are after you with your own blood. Use the mouse to play, left click to launch a blood blast and move around using the A and D keys. Hold the same button for two seconds for a special attack.
The sequel can be played through the web browser or downloaded for extra features not found online. Click here for the entire list of Diverge Creations’ creations.
On to slightly serious matters. TIGSource is looking for writers to fill a few positions, so if you have the nuts to take a crack at the job, do write in. You don’t just get free games sometimes, you get free games all the time actually. Information on the sidebar to the right.

I have no idea how the screenshot shown in this preview could be mistaken for something else entirely. But if you’re looking forward to playing games which features art from this post, then you’re in luck.
First up is Clubby the Seal, an arcade game with copious amount of gore. Guide Clubby on a quest for revenge by bashing in the heads of poor eskimos and skinning them to sell their hides on the black market.
These skins can be bartered for special items such as extra lives or protective masks. Not a game for the kids, definitely.
Next on the list is Viviparous Dumpling, another oddity that puts you in control of a fetus. The objective is collect sperms and white pills which will heal any damage received from colliding with bad toxoplasms. Rather short in length, though it does lead to part two of this article rather nicely.

Something Awful’s Flash Tub is usually one of the more worthwhile features on that site, and this week is no exception, because everything else is pretty crummy. The Stupid Room is kinda-fun adventure game that features some not-too-annoying voiceovers and some decent video game references. Two very mediocre thumbs sideways!
(Actually, to be honest, I thought it was pretty amusing.)

Since we’ve been on kind of a roll with updates recently, here’s another browser-based Samorostlike (a genre I’m coining here and now), called Haluz. The game itself is fairly charming, although the hotspot hunting drove me mad at points. I’m at the last part right now, and even though I know exactly what to do I still can’t advance! Bastard!
EDIT: Ah, nevermind, I just beat it. It still ain’t Samorost!
MORE EDIT: derek likes to taunt people by talking up games and not providing links to them. [Thanks! -Derek]

Wogger is a flash-based surrealist adventure game that involves a lot of hotspot hunting. It’s kind of like Samarost, but minus the bucketloads of charm (and the graphics are much worse, too).
I give this game 2 NHP’s out of 5.

Sushi Samurai is a Japanese-themed Burger Time you can play in your browser. But you can’t drop enemies when they’re walking over the ingredients! Argh, why would you leave out the funnest part of the game!

Flow is made by the
same guy who made Cloud.
Similar to his other game, Flow is an idyllic and rather soothing way to pass
the time. The gameplay is an intriguing blend between Pacman and Snake.
By using the mouse to pilot, you gobble up segments that cause your body to
grow as onscreen visuals ‘ping’ to let you know where the nearest ‘elevator’
organism is. (Eating elevator organisms cause your snake to go up or down a
level). As you progress, you eventually start bumping into other organisms.
After defeating these organisms, swallowing the small + sign allows one of your
body segments to evolve.
At this point, I was considering putting something like "The time will
just flow by", but that would result in the immediate invalidation of my
journalism license.

Dungeon Escape is, in the
author’s words:
[My] very silly and very low-budget flash tribute to the classic laserdisc
games like Dragon’s Lair, Space Ace, and Super Don Quixote (well, that last
one’s not quite so famous, but it holds fond childhood memories for me).
The game, though admittedly linear, is surprisingly immersive. Maybe just the
thing to spend an hour or so killing time, eh?

As a kid, I used to spend plenty of quarters on an old arcade machine called Kung Fu Master. The game was about fighting your way to the top of a pagoda, much like Bruce Lee’s Game of Death but with a damsel in distress.
Babarageo’s remake does a great job of updating the classic, featuring a female lead with deadly moves to take out opponents of any size. Land a number of attacks in succession and you will execute some devastating attacks. Fireballs and dragon punches can be done without the need to wrestle a joystick.
Not too sure if the yellow tracksuit makes an appearance here. Stephen Chow and Quentin Tarantino couldn’t resist, wouldn’t be too surprised if Great Kung Fu includes it as well.

I didn’t think too much of Orbox B when I first started playing, but a few levels later and I was like, “hey, this is pretty neat!” Then I beat this one particularly challenging level, and the feeling of satisfaction I got was pretty good. Somewhere between clipping my toenails and kissing a girl for the first time.
