Tower of Heaven

Tower of Heaven is Askiisoft’s debut game, a four—no, three color platformer with particularly devious challenges. I love the variety of death animations. Which is good, ‘cause that’s what I spent most of my time seeing.
To celebrate the release, a speedrun contest is being held on the forums. The current best time is 2:29. I took longer than that trying to beat the third screen.

The formatting on this post is bananas.
Anyway, check it out! ‘Tis a fun little game.
I’m using Windows 7 and the graphics are a mess, i can’t see the character.
Hrm, weird, it runs fine for me in Vista. :(
I’m using Windows Vista and the game runs fine. I love it to death :) Even though my speedrun time is 5 minutes…
After the Book of Laws shatters, you still can’t touch yellow blocks. Hrmm. Great game though.
Windows Vista, graphics are a mess, 2nd stage I can’t even see the character
@raiten : I think it has something to do with the screen scaling method that game maker uses. Can’t say for sure though.
It works for me on Vista. That’s odd. What version of Vista do you have?
I’ll check it out later, the prizes in the contest are awesome.
Great game! The ending was great!
The graphics problem some of you encounter is probably due to Game Maker’s crappy surfaces (I’m pretty sure they’re used for the scalling).
I’m having trouble with the graphics as well. Most of the screen is black. I have a similar problem with Spelunky, the opening animation is broken and the floors in certain rooms (the score rooms, the hallways that your character walks through between levels) are black where there should be graphics. For reference, I’m using a Nvidia graphics card with up to date drivers. Anyone know what the problem is?
Bowser is correct, Game Maker’s surfaces is puking all over your graphics drivers. There’s not much that can be done except to wait for GM8.
I’ve heard that going to the rotation nvidia logo in Nvidia’s control panel and leaving it at that screen, will fix your problems while playing the game (and the problems in spelunky)
That doesn’t seem to help. Is there any setting that I could change that might fix the problem?
Great Game. But on the last level you should be able to touch the yellow blocks - the book did shatter (like Alex said before)…
Man, that bird on the ending screen is chill. Nothing fazes him!
Anyone found a way past the graphical issues? Mine plays all right but black squares are around almost every sprite and makes the game look pretty ugly.
How do you beat the level where god first says you cant walk left? I can’t beat it T_T
Person - You can’t “walk” left, but you still need to go left. How else do you move left if you don’t walk? That’s your hint.
Coolest game I’ve played this year.
For the graphics problems with nvidia cards, you can download Fraps, run Fraps, switch to the game, and then close Fraps (don’t bother recording or anything). No idea why it works, but it does. At least, for me it does.
Person: you have to moonwalk.
This is probably the funniest game I’ve ever played - funny as in the game mechanics made me laugh out loud and wonder why the hell I was doing this, rather than witty dialogue or something (which is also awesome, but not why this particular game is awesome).
Wow. Glad to see this getting attention, I first downloaded this a while back once I befriended its creator on deviantART and discovered they had created an indie game.
Their first game? Wow, you’d never guess, it’s really confident and focused - a perfectly-paced short format game. I really like it.
@AGuy That sort of work for me. That is, the graphics fix themselves but I get an error message on every frame and I can’t control the game because of the messages.
The only other thing that seems to work is restarting; it mostly seems to mess up if you were running another game at fullscreen beforehand. GM just doesn’t like Nvidia. :I
Congratulations for finishing! This is a pretty polished, fun, well designed game and I’d definitely recommend it.
Great game, especially the music. Too bad I can’t seem to find the second secret:(
Graphics failure on Vista. Tried restarting, tried FRAPS, tried the Nvidia control panel, nothing. Seems like a fun game, unfortunately.
awesome game
