Fantastic Contraption

Colin Northway’s Fantastic Contraption is a super-nifty Flash-based physics toy that follows in the steps of games like Armadillo Run and Crayon Physics. The goal in FC is to get a red polygon into a goal area by attaching to it various wheels and rods. It’s an elegant concept, it’s executed very well, and it’s tons o’ fun! Some of the later levels are just devious, too…
A paltry $10 lets you create your own levels and share them with other registered players.
(Thanks, reetva!)
P.S. Does anyone else see something a little, ah, Freudian about that screenshot up there?

I see something BIG kind of freudian thing there
It’s all in your head, guys, all in your head… ^^
Nothing Freudian here, move along now.
WTF I think I just made a black hole and the game got totally bugged out.
I put so many water rods in the same place and then all the stuff lying around the level got sucked into the start box and it doesn’t let me stop it from running. Massive frame rate drop with that many, too…
This game is actually sensational. Thank you.
I don’t think that that thing is in my head… cough
Yeah. Mind ‘the gap’ indeed.
Fantastic Contraption = Incredible Machine?

SHARK ATTACK
Thoroughly impressed with this. It does nothing new conceptually but is beautifully executed. Furthermore, I’m astounded by some of the contraptions created by some other users to complete levels. Some portal-esque moments of “oh my god, that’s so simple yet so clever”. I think I might chuck some money at the creator.
I particularly recommend checking out green solutions, such as this one.
Best 10$ ever spent! :)
