101 Free Games 2008

1up’s compiled another great list of 101 Free Games this year. The authors, Darren Gladstone (formerly of Games For Windows) and Scott Sharkey, are two of indie’s greatest champions in mainstream game journalism. Respect!

And be sure to check out last year’s list, if you haven’t already.

Nah, it probably requires a iota-core processor and dual octa-crossfire graphics-card setup that’ll ruin my financial status. :S

I can confirm that Sharkey is a badass. As well as the rest of the pro-indie contingent within 1UP. Keep fightin’ the good fight!

I was under impression, that its still February of 2008. How can someone compile a list of all games that are not made or even thought of yet - is beyond me. Maybe, just maybe, they actually meant 2007 ? But are not eloquent enough to say just that ?

Its like how comics usually have NEXT month on the cover, even though they are released THIS month. Creates alot of confusion, this.

It’s not “101 Free Games _of_ 2008”, but “101 Free Games 2008”, implying it’s the 2008 version of the good ole 101 Free Games list.

Where is Ether Vapor on the shooters list?!?!

  8. tim said about 20 hours later:

saving it for the 2009 edition, that’s what.

DNAbstract - Because Ether Vapor isn’t free. There was a demo released, but the full game was actually sold as a boxed retail game… At least in Japan. Getting hold of it legitimately anywhere else in the world is nigh impossible, as the few english-language places that used to have it in stock have run out of copies.

It was really hard to find the Games for Windows magazine that also mentions this list. I finally got one at Borders.

    I’m glad Lyle’s on here too. :)

Dominic White - but there is Abstractica 3, which is not free (there is a free trial however)

Excellent stuff and admittedly quite a few games I had missed…
