N+ on XBLA This Wednesday!

N Plus

After what seems like forever, N+ will finally be arriving to the XBLA Marketplace this Wednesday, February 20th, at 9am PST. This update to N will cost you a mere 800 points and features new levels (450 in total!), new graphics, and a built-in level editor.

At this point we’re completely anxious, worried that it’s too hard and no one will buy it because the graphics are so minimal and stylized (though stylish), and after struggling with the demo for the hypothetical 3 minutes you have before people get bored, they’ll give up instead of pushing on and finding their inner ninja. All we can do is hope people will see/play past all that and get incurably addicted.

But of course! If you love challenging, well-made platformers, this is a must-buy. And it’d be a great way to show Microsoft what kinds of games we want to see on their console.

Hearty congratulations to raigan and mare for getting their baby out the door!

    Yes! YES! YEEEES!

Tell them not to worry, they’re guaranteed hundreds of purchases!

    Ooh, first post.

So I don’t have an XBox. But if I did I’d probably get this.

Is there a way to ‘gift’ XBox live arcade games to people? Because one of my friends would probably be getting this game if so.

Definatly something I am getting…and I dont even own a Xbox 360 yet so what I mean is that I’ll be getting this on my friends Xbox and simply keep it here for a long long time.

I tried N for pc and it was a nice platformer, but nothing of commercial level. It has pretty robust gameplay too, but very boring at long

This actually looks like a clever marketing. “We are afraid people are not going to buy it because of … graphics”

I think every heart of an indie gamer starts to beat “I WILL, I WILL!!!” =)

  6. Mazapán said about 5 hours later:

N+ and Braid are the reasons im getting an xbox.

  7. Zeno said about 5 hours later:

    Good ol’ N-game.

Isn’t it due for a DS/PSP release soon, too?

  8. Tantan said about 8 hours later:

Yeah. It looked to be the suck at first, because they changed the graphics a lot on the handhelds, but they put in a “pure” mode whcih changes it.

    N-tastic!

Eclipse: The XBLA version of N+ is surprisingly slick compared to the PC version. I recommend trying the demo at least.

  11. Noyb said about 12 hours later:

Tell me they got rid of the casual-play-killing gameplay feature of forcing the player to beat five levels in a row before saving. That design decision was the only thing that made me give up the otherwise brilliant original, when each individual level started getting insane for me around the bottom of the second column. (Yes, I realize that it’s to provide an incentive to collect gold to refill the running countdown timer, but there’s nothing wrong with a Majora’s Mask style one-off quicksave on exit.)

  12. Eclipse said about 16 hours later:

I will! :) Damn i want also my game on xbla and psp\ds… i need to quit my job and start an indie software house :D

    Congrats on the release!

I’m glad people who haven’t played this game before on PC will get a chance to play it via XBLA, but I’ll personally stick with the free PC version. Not really interested enough to spend 800 marketplace points on this since I’ve enjoyed the PC version already. I probably would have been more willing to pay $9 for the PC version than the XBLA version and 800 pts is steep for me because of that. Doesn’t really have anything to do with the gameplay or graphics, just the fact that I can get this and other load-runner clones for free and know where to find them.

I think this is great for people who haven’t played N before or for people who don’t play games on PC or have a limited amount of time to search for games on their PC. But I hope the game becomes popular among those who aren’t familiar with it or didn’t get a chance to play the PC version.

Played the demo for the XBLA version, considering picking it up. I’ll probably hold out for the DS version though, nothing like portable crack…
