My life suddenly has meaning.
This is better than what would happen if you combined the forces of ice cream, kittens, and that threesome I was promised.
I’m going to let that image burn itself into your mind.
Runs at like 4 fp/HOUR on my computer : (
Same, Pixel Mort D:
Its like im watching a slideshow of the game instead of actually playing it. Is there like a non browser based version of this?
Oof, runs pretty piss poor here too. Hope they’ll release a downloadable version soon.
My computer can’t cope with the awesomeness either :(
Thankfully it runs great here. This game is the best i’ve played in a long time. Great controls, graphics and gameplay! It’s also nice that the game keeps track of alot of statistics and also got some achivements thrown in.
Instant classic.
And the system requirements are … ? How irresponsible is it to omit this important bit of info ?
Oh god the thing is a slomo…
it gets choppier the longer I play! And it’s barely playable to start! I have a half-decent rig. And there are several people here who said it runs really badly, too, but I don’t know what their computers are like.
I know we didn’t pay for it or anything, but it’s still disappointing… I’ve been looking forward to this game
I think I need the same computer as jesus :(
FPS is ok here, and the game is fun, but the Unity web crap is annoying. I was forced to install it and not only run it in IE, but fish around for my 32-bit IE install. I wouldn’t mind as much if Unity actually worked in Firefox. (gives me an “Invalid Data File” error)
Haha, it lags like crazy, but I managed to kill a velociraptor. If I had a proper computer and not this craptop, it would probably be really fun.
Works fine in firefox for me. :D
Why do people always want to stuff everything into web browser?
The unity thing works in firefox AND ie for me, but both run very slowly… horrible fps. Ie is slower than Firefox, actually. I tried both. Unplayable.
It would be interesting to know your system specs. So far it seems like most people have trouble playing the game.
I got Intel Dualcore 1.8ghz, Radeon Mobility X1600 256mb, 2gb ram.
Internet connection doesn’t have anything to do with the payability of this game right? Since after everything is loaded nothing else is streaming, or am i wrong? Anyway, i have a 10mbit connection.
The game runs very well for me. Some minor slow downs at times but nothing to worry about.
Score one more for the underpowered computers. I’d really love to play this, but the Unity web player is pretty manky, from the look of things.
Runs between 15-20 FPS at an AMD XP 3200+, 1GB RAM and a GeForce 7600GS. Will test it on my laptop in a sec (2x 1.78Ghz, GeForce 7300, 1GB RAM).
I get respectable framerates with my rig but that doesn’t stop this game from falling flat. Unfortunately, the control is so hit-or-miss that you can expect to end up overshooting your turns and spinning donuts or barely making any turning at all until at last you whip around as if you’d hit the e-brake with the steering wheel as far as it can possibly go in any given direction.
My PC: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (3.0GHz), GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB, 2GB Gaming-grade RAM. Still get framerate dips when there’s tons of crap on screen (trees seem to be the biggest offenders), but overall consistently around the 50-60 mark.
On the plus side it’s pretty damn fun when the steering is working right.
Forgot to mention that the game works fine with Opera.
Runs between 15/25 FPS at a Core 2 Duo T5250, 2GB RAM and a crappy onboard Intel GMA X3100. At the “How to play”/”Play” selection screen, I’ve got almost 60fps at some points.
Ran choppy in Opera for me (huge delay between button presses and on-screen action), then IE went fine. What’s with the several minute load time, though?!
I was actually excited about this release, but now that I play it, it doesn’t seem much more than a wacky idea tacked onto a sub-par arcade game.
The game is awesome and runs perfectly on my PC in Firefox. =)
oh no, will there be an offline version? 3D-games in a browser are an insult to every gamer. :/
My PC is rather good and actually ran it nicely, with some slowdowns when there was some more action taking place. Still for me it is a little too shallow. I know, I know, it’s not ment to be any different, but this way it just doesn’t motivate me much. I got to say though, the achievements on the other hand add quite some longevity to it, as they show that there’s quite some stuff to do (I’m yet to actually shoot those critters with the spiky ball :D ). Also what the game does, it does nicely, especially the driving physics. They feel rather uncomfortable at first, but I guess you get used to it. So, well, at least it’s a greater one of those “coffee break” games and the web player just enforces that. If just the performance was much better..
The game has high system requirements due to its hasty creation (ie we’re pretty sloppy in parts). If you want to test whether it’s the Unity plugin or our project, try one of their demos: http://unity3d.com/gallery/live-demos/tropical-paradise
If the game runs poorly but you have decent specs, please email me your specs (mwegner to the domain of flashbangstudios.com).
For reference, the weakest box in the office is a single-core 2.8GHz, Radeon x300. That’s probably around the minimum requirements…
Same here, terrible fps, I can run bioshock at high quality here Tried opera and IE..
I have a 3.2 ghz single-core processor, 1gb of ram, and a Geforce 7800. I can play Bioshock on medium-ish settings, and Oblivion on full, maximum settings. It baffles me why this game won’t work well for me, besides the fact that it’s stuck in the browser.
I was expecting this to be a downloadable game, when I heard about it a while back.
Only have my laptop right now, and it’s as slow as you’d think. The best thing is, it crashes totally when I slam full pelt into a raptor, firefox exploding in a burst of historically-accurate feathers and jammed sound effects.
I’m about to run it for the third time and I can’t even play it for longer than 30 seconds.
Maybe it’s allowed cache size that matters? Won’t even try this one until it’s browser-ish. Never had any luck playing 3D withn my FF.
Sorry, Matthew’s reply got caught in the spam filter (#28).
The tropical paradise demo runs more or less fine for me. A hundred times better than RS, anyway… :(
This is so much fun.
Seems the CPU’s the bottleneck, my Athlon 3800+ runs it playably, though barely. It does sometimes slow to a crawl when bouncing around multiple raptors. (3 seems to be the magical number at whitch my PC gives up and the framerate drops into single digits.)
But that’s actually not even my main gripe with the game. Often, at the end of the game, when I upload my score, it gets a connection error, and it never uploads the score. Oddly enough, my profile page still gets updated, just not the score. It’s hard to compete when only about 1/3 of all my games are scored.
It’s really awesome. Those ramps are a very cool addition, overall just plain awesomeness in this game! Excellent.
Did anyone manage to get one of those Pteranodons yet or is that impossible?
I can get one reliably, but there seem to be at least 3.
Switched to pc, but still my specs are prohibiting potential awesomity. Managed to get 6x Raptor combo, each slowing the game a little more, until the thing became unplayable. Ahh, I want to play this properly so badly!
I got better performance when i siwtched to fullscreen (right click on the game window in the browser).
Also there’s an update that allows to turn off audio.. see if that makes any difference.
Laaaaag. Also crashed my browser when I tried to export a raptor. And I had such high expectations.
I’ve got an old P4 1800mhz with 512mb of ram and a 256mb GeForce fx5500 and it’s unplayable :(
NOOO THE LAG!
Doesn’t run well on my current dead PC, BUT I’m going to be upgrading to a new and better one soon anyway.
Guys, try to turn off the sound in the menu, it DID help for me!
Any chance you’ll release it as a standalone matthew since unity has a option for standalone builds?
Disabling the sound didn’t seem to improve performance, but it did make me realize that having Born to Be Wild playing in the background makes the game even more awesome.
Due to horrible lag, my life has suddenly lost meaning.
Game runs fine, and has given me a hot’n spicy boner all day.
Born to Be Wild is indeed awesomeness-increasing, especially with these kind of games. I used to play Carmageddon with Born to Be Wild playing all the time… it’s insane! :)
If you disable sounds most of the choppyness dissapears.
I’m curious, do the creators have a deal with Unity to try to increase it’s web player install base? I looked at Unity’s site and it says Unity3D comes with the ability to make standalone executables on Windows or Mac.
They probably just like games that you can instantly play. ^^
I don’t recall having to install anything, except if I wanted to run the official demos, but perhaps that’s simply me being tired.
Does that dude in the bottom look like MacGyver to anyone else?
This game needs duct tape!
and god said “let there be light” then he said let there be run over velociraptors and all of his minons were like wtf
Does that dude in the bottom look like MacGyver to anyone else?
Ehm? He does because it IS MacGyver?
We posted a bit about the reasoning behind the lack of a standalone on the main/news page of raptorsafari.com…
I guess I will have to wait and see if you change your mind about the stand alone. I want to play this properly not in an internet browser.
Did they fix the lag yet. This game was supposed to be my game of the year D:
They really botched this one. I was looking forward to this game.
