Boom! Cortex Command: Build 20
Posted by BMcC Sat, 26 Jan 2008 11:28:00 GMT

I just love posting these little, horribly violent animation loops from Cortex Command.
Anyway, the 20th build has been released. Dunno why it hadn’t been posted here yet. (Maybe it had?)
Expect the usual bunch of improvements and tweaks. Download here.

I think the Scene Editor may be Data’s ticket to fame and/or fortune.
It is, dunno why it wasnt posted here, will always now psot it on the forum if a new version is out :) (so we need a CC topic) anyway I have the full version and it just rocks, for people that can’t decide just buy it becuase it will cost more and more and just think about the fun it’s worth the money, just excellent, one of my top five games, I think number two lol (nothing beats Dwarf Fortress) !!! :)
heh, how to evaluate this game if the demo ends after 5 minutes? that’s absolutely the lamerest thing i’ve never seen on an indie game. Datarealms, you lost a buyer :(
You could try evaluating any of the the previous 19 freely-playable-with-no-restrictions builds..
thanks! that’s sound interesting, where can I find the rel19 download? I remember I tried it a lot of time ago and it was interesting but really too much in an embryo phase to be called a game and not a techdemo
The comments section on the DataRealms devlog makes me fear for humanity.
I tried out the demo to Cortex Command ages ago, but I decided it was stupid because it didn’t mow my lawn for free. Nice try, guys, you just lost yourself a customer.
Maybe next time you’ll consider making a piece of software that can mow my lawn and also make ice cream.
Seriously, what’s with people?
Bah, the controls on this game are way too sloppy. By which I mean I suck at it, but seriously, it’s like playing drunk, only I’m not drunk.
That’s a pretty good animation ^_^
that anim reminds me of metal slug
This is the best game ever, good physics, nice weapons, good animation. Controls are a bit getting used to. But with the mouse you’ll get in to it pretty easy.
This game lost quite a bit of steam after they started charging for it.
dang brandon, this news is OLDDdddDDDdDDdddd. :(
Old but fresh! ;)
raigan, build 19 is limited too, Eclipse I can find a rapidshare link for B18 if you want ???
Um the first commercial version has been out for about a month and half… and we’re already losing steam? Yikes!
If you’re looking for older versions, just go back in the devlog; the download links in the previous build announcements still work.
Btw, good call Raigan.. mslug was the original main art inspiration/direction for the project!
Great game, but… I am to dumb to make a good bunker or develop a winning strategy. Are there any mods for mentally impared? With preconstructed bunkers, deployed units, to make the game easier for lazy people?
thanks Nikica, would be great… i just don’t understand why they limited only at 5 minutes, I’m a passionate indie gamer and i’m going to give it a try anyway, but all the gamers more “casual” than me will simply not buy this game
Eclipse like Data said old download links still work, so here you go: http://www.datarealms.com/downloads/ccsetup18.exe
Game plays quite nicely with a good gamepad. I’ll probably get around to buying a copy at some point. I definitely like the idea, but I guess i’d rather pay more later for the complete version than have to wait for installments (here’s looking at you, half-life 2).
Eclipse I think I can’t post it becvuase of the link just go to the Data Realms BLog and find the B18 post, Obscuritan buy I it now it’s worth the money and you will get all the next builds and the game will cost more, btw the HL2 installements just rock !!! Go HL2 & CC & DF !!!
5 minutes is actually pretty long for a single game of this. I can’t wait until this game becomes…less of a mess. It has a lot of fun ideas!
Can you walk on the ground without it magically deteriorating now?
Yes it’s a lot better now !!!
the game is almost as entertaining as the comment section of the dev log
but only almost
