Rückblende

Rückblende is a diploma project made by Nils Deneken for a visual communications course, and was submitted as a student IGF entry this year.
The game itself is a mix of Neverhood and Samorost, and has pretty rocking music. Its 600 MB file size accounts for room transitions and cutscenes.
Web site’s currently down, probably because there’s a 1GB monthly bandwidth or something. Guess you can chalk this up as one of those super-rare games that only three people in the world would have. I can host the manual, but definitely not the entire game. (Sorry!)
Another video in the extended…

It looks absolutely stunning. I’m going to see if I can’t find it via torrents or DC or something. Honestly it looks gorgeous.
Go figures, it’s a one.com domain.
They advertise with “Unlimited transfer” but in reality if you read the fine print it says you can’t use it as a file host. Thus any non-standard web-files generating lots of traffic will result in your page being shut down. He should try diino.com.
I just sent him an e-mail about it so perhaps we’ll have a new link in notime.
I can’t mirror it at megaupload as it’s larger than 500 MB. Is there a free filehosting service that takes larger files?
yes haowan, look at my previous comment. there’s no waiting and you don’t need to enter any codes either to download.
check for example: http://mckack.diinoweb.com/files/kimpix-download/
it’s like a directory listing when you “share” your files.
Try using P2P perhaps, after it’s seeded enough that should work fine.
Torrents! Can’t anybody contact legaltorrents.com or the likes? (ah well, legaltorrents is restructuring)
I’d second Torrenting, but this looks to be quite a niche game which probably wouldn’t have that many seeders and leechers anyway, so perhaps a normal upload is better still. The only currently active hoster I know of to accept files up to 1GB without much hassle (the almighty spam popups are suspiciously absent and it’s not even required to register) and for the most part stable download speeds is called Future-DLD.com. You might want to give that one a try, haowan.
OK, but I’m at work now, so it’ll have to be in 9 hours or so.
Sorry guys, not much I can do about this since I’m on dial-up. Nils does reply his emails, so if you want mirrors you can send him a message as well.
Hey Guys,
I’m sorry you’re not able to download the game at the moment. I’m gonna do something about that and make it work soon. Thanks a lot for your interest and the positive comments. Best regards, Nils
looks fantastic - a great blend of different styles.
The style looks like nothing else out there, which rocks.
It is hard to imagine how the game actually plays, but just the look and feel of it (That includes the awesome music) warrants the download.
Can’t wait to play this.
Tim remembers the Neverhood?
Haowan : upload it on filefront ! or on uploaded.to/sendspace.com and just make 2/3 files of it but I don’t see reason why you should not upload it on filefront
W00t, seems like one of these few who got the game :) Its great I must say, the style rocks, tho I’m getting a gameover when I go down the trapdoor, dunno if the games already over there or if I miss something…
Will filefront take it? I also happen to have free hosting with virtually no file size limits on website of a game magazine.
I posted a comment in here but lolz some packetloss or whatever.. I said: FILEFRONT FOR SURE^^ Once you host it on filefront I can reup it like on 654654 other shares but really, filefront is the best one (1gb max..)
Looks LOVELY. But then I have an awfully large soft spot for model-making. And hand-drawn animation, for that matter.
Looks really great. Wonder about the gameplay though - will have to download it somehow. You could always upload it to a gmail or some other yahoo with a p2m program (but everyone who downloads would have to download some p2m program too :/)
Can someone upload it and post the link here please?
Really, are we going to let this game slip into oblivion… someone must have downloaded it. Please upload it to an open filehost =)
Yes, please someone upload it. Even if the link doesn’t last forever, it’ll at least put it in the hands of many people who will hold onto it, and reintroduce the world to it later.
Tim just uploaded a link on his indygamer blog, check over there.
