insanely twisted shadow planet

Holy sh… an independent video game from comic book artist Michel Gagné?!

OK, the cat is out of the bag. Here’s the official announcement of my new upcoming project: Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet!
For the past year, I’ve been creating (with the help of a small crew) the kind of game I’d love to play.

Click here for the trailer. Coming in 2008.

(Thanks for the news, Chrissketch!)

Sweet, I loved ‘Prelude to Eden’.

  2. Shinji16 said about 2 hours later:

Holy shit! I love this guy’s entry into Flight 3… (the saga of Rex stuff)

I saw a watermark over the video though. Said “You’re instantly buying this aren’t you?”. Did anyone else see that?

  3. ChevyRay said about 2 hours later:

I haven’t read Prelude to Eden yet, but we were just having a discussion about this fellow in the forums in the Flight topic. :) I loved his contributions to those.

And that preview looks seriously like the greatest thing ever. Any idea when in 2008 this sub’s gonna surface?

  4. ChevyRay said about 3 hours later:

Oh, by the way, I think it’s spelled “Michel”, not “Michael”.

  5. Isador21 said about 3 hours later:

    Great. Now I’m hyped.

  6. !CE-9 said about 3 hours later:

Michel Gagné is cool. way cool.

as quicktime downloading, I won’t be, I tried to look this up on youtube. for some strange reason the ITSP trailer has been removed. but quicktime downloading, I won’t be.

(there however is additional stuff by Gagné on youtube, and it’s Insane, and Twisted, and Shadow too, so it’s good for you)

  7. Derek said about 4 hours later:

    Thanks for the correction, Chevy!

  8. fish said about 7 hours later:

should have called it “absolutely batshit fucking loco shadow planet”

the level of artistry shown here is just mind blowing. looks like a weird cross between René Laloux’ planete sauvage, tim biskup and something gothy. amazing.

  9. Dan MacDonald said about 11 hours later:

Wow that looks a bajillion times better in motion, screen shots don’t’ really do it justice.

  10. Melly said about 15 hours later:

The game’s visuals look too awesome for it to be called awesome. It’s… supawesome, or something like awesawesome.

    Awesome.

  11. oNyx said about 18 hours later:

    Wow. Now that’s a /different/ look! :o

No clue what the game will be like, but the art direction is surely top notch.

  12. Advenith said about 20 hours later:

I watched the Prelude to Eden short afterwards. Pretty amazing stuff. The game looks even better, though.

  13. ChrisSketch said about 20 hours later:

Of course it looks beautiful in motion. Gagne is a professional 2D animator. He did water, smoke, and blast effects on Iron Giant. Also, he did the abstract taste visualizations in Ratatouille. How many 2D animators actually get to animate games?? If I’m disappointed at all, its only cuz its not a “Saga of Rex” game. Though I must admit the Shadow look lends itself much easier to game format.

  14. Simon Love said about 21 hours later:

Woa. Whatever you guys below said, I second it! Woa..

  15. Twisted Rabbit said 1 day later:

I have been in love with Gagne since day one. I think i will never come down from this high of hearing about this game. I WANT, and i will wait for him to be completely satisfied with it to play it. Love the original shadow puppet’s shorts as well. happyness in my head

  16. Melly said 1 day later:

Rex needs its own game too! I love that foxy’s stories.
