Holy shit! The steam’s still coming off of this idea and it’s on the front page!

Just wanted to add that it’s all Prom and BMcC… I’m just helping with organization. This is planned on being our TIGForums community project. Join up and lend a hand!

  2. Rz. said 11 minutes later:

    Single-screen?! No way!

  3. Tim said 18 minutes later:

The design looks pretty much complete to me. Just need some coding and pixel work to put everything together.

Just doing my part to kick things into gear. ;)

  4. Oddbob said 27 minutes later:

Oh man, don’t get Peter Molyneux on board - it’ll take years to come to fruition and then it’ll be a tenth of what it should be ;)

  5. Tim said 32 minutes later:

Peter wants to put Kenta Cho in it.

  6. Dan Macdonald said about 2 hours later:

I pixel david jaffe! maybe krator can make an appearance too!

  7. PoV said about 3 hours later:

    What? No Vin Desiel?

  8. Lorne Whiting said about 4 hours later:

Damn. I was just like ‘Meh’ until I read Proms documents and now I want to play it.

  9. Eric Vaughn said about 5 hours later:

    Holy shit, this looks awesome.

  10. BMcC said about 5 hours later:

Oh my gosh. I wasn’t even sure if I had gotten the OK yet and already there’s an expected release date!

But that’s cool. I’m good for it. I can’t wait to show you guys what I’m made of. ;)

    Re: Community Project Stuff

I don’t need any help with the development, but I def need art, animation, concepts, etc. (which I hope Arne and Derek will provide).

As for the community support – I think it would be great, but we’ve GOT to get organized first. (Derek! Shoot me some messages, bro. :)

My plan is to make a working demo ASAP, get a development thread going, and start finalizing the core gameplay design. Once things are set, I’d love to see everyone discussing things as they develop, submitting their own concepts and ideas, analyzing, and eventually creating their own levels. That could be a lot of fun! And a great resource for anyone curious about game development.

Alright, I’m fixing my grandma’s PC right now and typing in a bizarrely low resolution, so please forgive this post’s messiness. I’ll get the ball rolling proper as soon as I get back.

    SO EXCITED!!!

it’s got a good feel to it. is it a puzzle game or will there be some action elements thrown in?

  12. Akhel said about 6 hours later:

Looks absolutely awesome. I love the idea of the “screen map”.

I’m really looking forward to this :D

  13. Zenith said about 7 hours later:

I want this game, hurry up dammit!

  14. Lorne Whiting said about 8 hours later:

Yo man, you want some art just call on me, and I’ll send it along, with love, from me, to you.

  15. Lorne Whiting said about 8 hours later:

Errr… I realize you can’t exactly contact me when I left no contact information, so… I’m Inane on the forums :D.

  16. Lorne Whiting said about 8 hours later:

Wow. It would have been so much simpler if I had just posted a message in the forums.

  17. Data said about 8 hours later:

Man, I’m so glad someone has stepped up to the plate to implement one of Prom’s amazing ideas! Bmcc, please bring the goods to do justice to the potential of this design.

And guys, I would highly recommend you make the screens just a little less wide (240x160 instead of 256x160), because then it’d fit on a GBA’s screen. It seems like a great platform match for this game’s requirements and potential.

    Kick ass!

  18. Data said about 8 hours later:

d’oh, reading closer, I see prom already has the GBA in mind, but the width is different from what’s stated in the wikipedia GBA entry’s specs:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameBoyAdvance

Whichever is the real width, make sure and verify you get it right before designing a bunch of maps!

  19. ravuya said about 8 hours later:

This post makes me want to start making game developer trading cards.

  20. Arne said about 15 hours later:

Yeah, I got the GBA resolution wrong in the design doc. That’s 2 tiles that needs to be shaved off, unless we go for 320 wide with a little handheld border thing (on PC).

I think the DS is 256 wide though, and the game flash cards are cheaper than the GBA carts.

…But, I just worked with a handheld resolution as a fun, (but arbitrary) design restriction.

  21. Julius said about 15 hours later:

That looks really cool, what about coding it with a GP2X (a Linux based handheld) port in mind?

  22. Nikica said about 18 hours later:

Cool game!!!Will it be for PC(Windows) and will it be freeware??? By the way a new version of Pluto STikes BAck is out here: http://www.kloonigames.com/blog/

  23. Nikica said about 18 hours later:

no this isn’t the new version but this upcoming platformer is kool with k!!!

  24. Shih Tzu said 1 day later:

I suggest Pxtone Collage for the music.

  25. BMcC said 1 day later:

    Ooh! Good call!

(Get in on this, man! I hunger for your input.)

  26. Sergio said 1 day later:
