Mutant Storm Empire

Joystiq reports on a video of Mutant Storm Empire in action. I was a fan of Mutant Storm and I like the direction this game is heading. The neon look of the original MS was cool, but I’m digging these “realistic” environs a lot more.

Shit, thanks Dan. Fixed in the post.

How bloody great are the Pom Pom guys!

I hope they put this out on PC too at some point :)

Ditto. I really hope this gets a PC release too. Mutant Storm and Space Tripper are two of my most-played shooters!

You need to buy an XBox. It’s a ploy to drive sales. If it was on the PC, the trick won’t work.

What’s so hard to understand about that? You think PP cares about your cheapskate feelings?

There are lots of other games out there to try. Stop hyping things.

My PP cares about you anonymous. My PP LOVES you.

    PP pwns joo

Seriously though, XBox Live has been stepping it up with some really nice games, and now that there’s Gears of War, Assassins Creed, and XNA Game Studio I think I finally have enough reasons to justify the $400.

so what are you implying, tigsource writing about GoW and AC?

  9. Teeth said about 20 hours later:

I’d have preferred more Space Tripper and less Mutant Storm - hope they have some upgradeable weapons and stuff like reactors in there.

  10. Dan MacDonald said 1 day later:

Na.. just speaking to our anonymous poster, there’s lots of good reason to buy an Xbox 360. GOW and AC get plenty of coverage, they don’t need any here. But I like good games no matter where they come from. It just happens that most often they come from indies :)

I’m with you, Teeth. I’d have preferred a bit more Space Tripper as arena-shooters are a little played out, IMHO. I’m sure there’s LOADS of room to innovate within the genre (I’d love to make a zombie-themed arena-shooter one day with properly interactive levels - almost like a single-screen Cannon Fodder) but I still prefer Star Tripper to Mutant Storm. Still, this looks like a blend of the two and I’m sure there’ll be some lovely exotic stuff in there.
