Poyo

Does look like Invader, doesn’t it? Though both are charming in their own ways.

Poyo is a platformer consisting of fifty levels, which was created by Lazrael in under one month using Game Maker. Consider this: the only actions available to the titular character are walking, jumping and warping. Yet it will still stump a few players especially in later stages.

Warping is an essential skill to master, and most of the puzzles involve pulling off a succession of moves correctly.

Cave Story. Within a Deep Forest. Eternal Daughter. Poyo comes pretty close to joining this elite circle. Perhaps the author’s next attempt?

Other works include Pozzo – Jello Crusade and Flapper.

Lyle in Cube Sector came closer. Pretty fun game, though.

God, first Lyle, then Illegal Communication, now this. I bought HL2 Episode 1 and I’ve yet to get anywhere in it because I’ve been spending all my free time on TIGS postings.

More on topic, this game rocks. I thought that the ramping difficulty was handled really well, with the last two worlds having some especially fiendish puzzles that were a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see the author’s next effort.

I really like this game, very twitch-tastic and testing actual platforming skill. The warping responsiveness could be tweaked a little but it may just be my ineptness :P

  • Sandcrab

The warping really is a little annoying, if you slip and do it at an angle (if you’re using a gamepad) he doesn’t go in any direction, so it might be better if, in the case of two buttons being pressed, it warps in the direction of the first one. Maybe. Control setups designed for both a keyboard and a gamepad tend to have some quirks between them like that.

    I really like it though.

    I likes it.

Thanks for the fullscreen tip; I was wondering why it wasn’t an option.

An error page pops up when I click the link…

    Something about “max connections”

    Anyway to resolve this?

Wow – I had a look at the front page, and it looks like the whole site is down. They’ll probably have it back up in a few days.

Until then, I found another site with the game:

Amazing game. I gave up on it the first time I tried it after “Getting tricky.” Tried it again, everything clicked, wound up beating it in two sittings. =)

  • Mozz

Sweet! Thanks for the alternate link. I’ll Download it as soon as I get home.
