Castle Crashers

Castle Crashers

Behemoth, the company that made Alien Hominid (and was founded by Newgrounds creator Tom Fulp), has put up an official site for Castle Crashers, their second game. It’s a 4-player sidescrolling beat-em-up in a medieval setting. You could say that as Alien Hominid was to Metal Slug, Castle Crashers is to Knights of the Round. Or maybe Capcom’s D&D arcade games.

I had a chance to play the game briefly last year at San Diego Comicon and it was pretty fun (although buggy as hell at the time). I’m looking forward to playing it again at SDCC this year to see how things have progressed.

What do you guys think of the graphics? I’ve always like Dan Paladin’s work with Flash, but I was hoping that his console stuff would be a little more “polished.” To me, this still looks like a Flash game, albeit a very, VERY nice one.

EDIT: As far as I know, the game has been confirmed for XBox Live Arcade in 2007 but nowhere else right now.

I personally love the graphics, and the graphics for this game do look a bit more polished than AH, to me atleast.

    Smoother.

Bad link to the official site, Yu…

    what platform is this for?

Undecided at the moment, innit? Gamasutra has an interview with Baez, and he basically says, “We don’t know, yet.”

If they are developing this in Flash, then they’ll be able to target all current home consoles and PC.

Flash is flexible enough to port to consoles as well as PC?

  6. Teeth said about 10 hours later:

Yeah, no problem. Just have to write a flash player. PSP’s got one, for example.

Hominid was not in Flash, I can’t really see this being Flash either. But judging the graphics, it looks like synj did them in Flash.

Well, in any case - it’s certainly bound for the 360. Not sure what else. Can’t be bothered to research properly, I’d rather just fart my stupid brains onto the internet.

Man that looks sweet, with four players should be an even better co-op game than AH. Hopefully this comes out for Nintendo’s virtual console as well, since I have no plans to buy a 360.

Well it took a while to download, but the vid on the site is worth a look. Whether or not I play this will really depend on what platforms it gets released on. I missed out on AH coz the publishers decided not to release the gamecube version in europe and I didn’t want to get freeloader for the sakes of one game :(

I did play the old flash version though and it was a bit on the tricky side.

I’m practically hoping this doesn’t make it to Wii just on account of the amount of people complaining about the 360.

God can’t even comprehend how hard I’m beating off for this game right now.

Existence is chrashing down all around me.
